Summary

CVE-1999-0779 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the HP-UX SharedX recserv program. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending specially crafted packets to the targeted system, causing the program to crash and become unresponsive, resulting in a denial-of-service condition. The vulnerability stemmed from a buffer overflow issue in the recserv program, allowing an attacker to inject malicious data into the system's memory, ultimately leading to the denial-of-service condition. HP-UX users were advised to apply the available patch to mitigate this vulnerability and prevent potential attacks.
