Summary

CVE-1999-0745 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the IBM AIX operating system's Source Code Browser Program Database Name Server Daemon (pdnsd), which uses the IBM C Set ++ compiler. The issue arises from a flaw in the way pdnsd handles certain database queries, allowing an attacker to send maliciously crafted data that overflows the buffer, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution or system crashes. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could enable attackers to gain unauthorized access, install malware, or disrupt services. IBM released a patch to address this issue in 1999.
