Summary
CVE-1999-0700 denotes a buffer overflow vulnerability in Microsoft Phone Dialer (dialer.exe). This issue arises due to processing a malformed dialer entry within the dialer.ini file. An attacker could exploit this flaw by crafting a specially crafted dialer entry, causing the application to exceed the intended buffer size and potentially leading to arbitrary code execution. This vulnerability posed a significant risk to Microsoft Windows 95 and 98 users, as Microsoft Phone Dialer was a widely-used component for making phone calls from the operating system.
