Summary

CVE-1999-0698 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the IP protocol logger (ippl) software on Red Hat and Debian Linux systems. An attacker can exploit this issue by sending specially crafted packets to a targeted IP address, causing the ippl daemon to crash and preventing normal operation of the affected system. This can result in a denial-of-service condition, rendering the system unavailable to users and potentially disrupting network services. System administrators are advised to update their ippl software or disable the daemon to mitigate this risk.
