Summary
CVE-1999-0698 is a denial-of-service vulnerability impacting IP protocol loggers (ippl) on Red Hat and Debian Linux systems. Maliciously crafted IP packets can trigger an infinite loop, leading the ippl process to consume excessive CPU resources and cause a denial-of-service condition. The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of certain IP packet options. System administrators are recommended to update their ippl packages or disable ippl to mitigate this risk.
