Details
Summary
CVE-1999-0667 is a vulnerability affecting the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP). Hackers can exploit this weakness by forging ARP replies, leading to the poisoning of ARP caches. This allows them to conduct IP address spoofing, impersonating another host on the network, or launch a denial-of-service attack. The ARP protocol's design, which doesn't provide authentication for ARP replies, makes it vulnerable to such spoofing attacks. Network administrators should implement security measures such as ARP validation or use of static ARP tables to mitigate these risks.
