Summary

CVE-1999-0494 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting WinGate proxy servers. The issue stems from a buffer overflow flaw in the POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) implementation of WinGate. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted emails to a targeted POP3 user, leading to a buffer overflow condition and ultimately causing the proxy server to crash or become unresponsive.
