Summary

CVE-1999-0494 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting WinGate proxy servers. The issue stems from a buffer overflow flaw in the POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) implementation. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted email to a targeted WinGate server. The buffer overflow results in the system crashing or becoming unresponsive, effectively denying service to legitimate users until the server is restarted.
