Summary
CVE-1999-0419 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the Microsoft SMTP service. When this service encounters a 4xx error code while delivering an email message, it will persistently retry sending the message, leading to a heavy load on the recipient server and potential service disruption. This issue can be exploited by malicious actors to cause denial-of-service conditions on targeted servers. Microsoft released a patch to address this vulnerability in 1999.
