Summary

CVE-1999-0368 is a critical buffer overflow vulnerability that affected both the wuarchive ftpd (wu-ftpd) and ProFTPD software. By exploiting this flaw, an attacker could send specially crafted data to a targeted system, resulting in a buffer overflow. Successful exploitation granted the attacker root access to the system. This vulnerability, also known as "palmetto," posed a significant risk to FTP servers and required immediate patching to mitigate the threat.
