Summary

CVE-1999-0364 refers to a vulnerability in Microsoft Access 97, where passwords for databases are stored in plaintext in foreign mdb files. This means that unauthorized users who gain access to these files can easily obtain the passwords and subsequently access the protected data without proper authorization. The storage of passwords in plaintext presents a significant security risk and highlights the importance of implementing strong encryption methods for sensitive data. Microsoft released a patch to address this issue in 1999. Users who have not applied this patch are still vulnerable to attacks.
