Summary

CVE-1999-0362 is a remote denial of service vulnerability affecting WS_FTP servers. An attacker can exploit this issue by sending a maliciously crafted cwd (change working directory) command during an FTP session, causing the server to crash or enter an infinite loop. This results in the server becoming unresponsive and denying legitimate users access to the service until it is restarted. The vulnerability can be exploited from the network, making it a potential threat to organizations that use WS_FTP servers. It is recommended that affected systems be updated to a patched version to prevent potential attacks.
