Summary

CVE-1999-0294 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting WINS (Winsock Internet Name Service) databases. Malicious SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) messages can be used to delete all records in a WINS database, leading to a disruption of name resolution services for affected networks. This issue can cause significant downtime and hinder network functionality until the WINS database is restored. It is recommended that network administrators secure their WINS servers from unauthorized SNMP access to mitigate this risk.
