Summary

CVE-1999-0292 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting older versions of Microsoft Windows. Maliciously crafted user names, specifically those containing large character counts, can cause a Winpopup error and consume system resources, leading to a denial-of-service condition. This issue can be exploited by sending an email with a long user name to a affected email account, causing the affected system to become unresponsive or crash. This vulnerability can impact network availability and productivity. Microsoft released a patch to address this issue in 1999.
