Summary

CVE-1999-0288 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the WINS server in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 before Service Pack 4. Attackers can cause process termination by sending invalid UDP frames to port 137 (NETBIOS Name Service). This can be exploited through a flood of random packets, resulting in a denial-of-service condition. Microsoft released a patch to address this vulnerability in SP4. Network administrators are advised to apply the patch promptly to mitigate the risk.
