Summary

CVE-1999-0251 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the talk program. An attacker can exploit this weakness to disrupt a user's display remotely. The issue arises due to insufficient input validation in the program, allowing malicious data to be sent to the victim's system. Consequently, the user's display becomes unresponsive, causing a denial-of-service condition. This vulnerability poses a risk to networks where the talk program is used, as it can prevent users from accessing critical information or performing necessary tasks. To mitigate this risk, it is recommended that affected systems be updated with the appropriate patch or that the use of the talk program be discontinued.
