Summary

CVE-1999-0243 is a vulnerability affecting the cfingerd service in Linux systems. Hackers can exploit this weakness to elevate their privileges and gain root access to the system. The cfingerd service, which manages the creation and modification of user shell prompts, contains a buffer overflow vulnerability. An attacker can send specially crafted data to the service, overwriting memory and executing arbitrary code. This can lead to the attacker gaining complete control over the compromised system.
