Summary

CVE-1999-0225 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Windows NT 4.0. An attacker can cause the system to crash by sending a malformed SMB (Server Message Block) logon request, where the actual data size does not correspond to the size specified in the request. This discrepancy can result in the operating system becoming unresponsive or crashing, rendering the system inaccessible until it is restarted. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, making it a potential threat to systems that are directly exposed to the internet or to networks that allow untrusted traffic. Therefore, it is essential to apply available patches to mitigate this issue and secure affected systems.
