Summary

CVE-1999-0182 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Samba, a popular file-sharing software. A remote attacker can exploit this weakness by supplying an excessively long password during a connection request. The oversized password data overflows a buffer, allowing the attacker to inject and execute arbitrary code. Successful exploitation grants the attacker root access to the Samba server, compromising the security of the entire network.
