Summary
CVE-1999-0179 is a vulnerability affecting Windows NT systems when used as Samba clients. This issue is triggered by executing the "cd .." command on a file share, resulting in the system crashing or freezing. The cause is a buffer overflow error in the Samba client's handling of certain file pathnames. Attackers could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial-of-service condition or potentially gain unauthorized access to the affected system.
