Summary
CVE-1999-0160 is a cybersecurity vulnerability affecting some classic Cisco IOS devices. Hackers can exploit this weakness to establish unauthorized Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connections using the Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP). Successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to the affected network, potentially causing damage or data theft. The vulnerability exists due to inadequate authentication checks in the PPP CHAP implementation.
