Summary
CVE-1999-0099 is a serious buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the syslog utility. This issue permits local or remote attackers to exploit the flaw and ultimately gain root privileges on the vulnerable system. By sending specially crafted input to the syslog service, an attacker can cause the buffer to overflow, resulting in arbitrary code execution with elevated privileges.
