Summary
CVE-1999-0008 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Sun's rpc.nisd program that is part of the NIS+ system. This issue allows an attacker to send malicious data to the program, resulting in an overflow of the buffer. Consequentially, the application may crash or behave incorrectly, potentially leading to unauthorized access or denial of service. The vulnerability can be exploited by sending specially crafted RPC packets to the affected system. It is advised that users apply the available patches as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
