The Massive Scope of Byzantine Candor
By Chris on August 16, 2012
Several weeks ago, Bloomberg published a lengthy piece describing the breadth of Chinese hacking efforts dubbed “Byzantine Candor” by the intelligence community. The report also included a nice visualization of targets affected by security breaches during a short period of time June 29, 2011 to July 21, 2011.
We thought it would be interesting to also examine the scope of targets, particularly companies and governments, over a longer timeframe as more and more previously classified information becomes public. Below you can see a timeline of events with several high visibility attacks called out while the data and live visualization of events related to Byzantine Candor from 2006 to current is available here.
