Recorded Future Appoints Mitsuro Kakizawa as Country Manager for Japan

Appointment underscores continued investment in Japan and deepens focus on Japanese customers, local innovation, and national cyber resilience

TOKYO and BOSTON — Recorded Future today announced the appointment of Mitsuro Kakizawa as Country Manager for Japan. The appointment reflects Recorded Future’s continued investment in Japan and its sharpened focus on serving Japanese customers, strengthening local partnerships, and delivering products, services, and intelligence-driven research that address the needs of Japan’s market and security environment.

Based in Tokyo, Kakizawa will lead Recorded Future’s strategy and growth in Japan, with responsibility for deepening engagement with customers and partner engagement, expanding local market development, and ensuring that Recorded Future’s platform, services, and research continue to evolve for Japanese organizations. His leadership will support Recorded Future’s work with enterprises, public-sector stakeholders, and critical infrastructure organizations seeking to anticipate, prioritize, and act on cyber and geopolitical risks.

“Japan is a critically important market for Recorded Future and a country where cyber resilience, innovation, and national security are deeply interconnected,” said Colin Mahony, CEO of Recorded Future. “Mitsuro is the right leader to help us deepen our long-term commitment to Japan. He brings exceptional experience, trusted relationships, and a deep understanding of what Japanese customers need from a modern intelligence partner. Under his leadership, we will expand our investment in the market and continue building products, services, and research that help organizations in Japan act first against evolving threats.”

“Mitsuro’s appointment reflects more than a leadership hire — it reflects our conviction that Japan will remain one of the world’s most important countries for cybersecurity, resilience, and strategic technology,” said Jonathan Luff, Chief of Staff and Chief of Global Affairs at Recorded Future. “We are committed to supporting Japan’s public and private sectors with actionable intelligence, high-confidence research, and deeper local engagement. As threats become more complex and more tightly linked to geopolitical competition, we want to be an enduring partner to Japanese institutions, Japanese customers, and Japan’s broader national-security mission.”

Kakizawa brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience across enterprise technology and cybersecurity in Japan. Most recently, he served as Country Manager for CyberArk Japan. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Imperva Japan, Microsoft Japan, Symantec, and Juniper Networks, helping global technology companies grow in the Japanese market and guiding customers through complex cybersecurity transformations.

"In an era where cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex and AI-driven attacks more sophisticated, active defense—namely, 'swift and accurate decision-making in the cyber domain'—has become indispensable for Japanese enterprises,” said Mitsuro Kakizawa. “Leveraging my experience in identity and data protection, I am committed to aggressively promoting the visualization of potential business risks and the management of third-party risks to ensure the security of entire supply chains through Recorded Future’s unparalleled intelligence. By establishing a 'secure business foundation' that supports the sustainable growth of Japanese companies and building resilience to withstand unforeseen circumstances, I will devote my full efforts to enhancing the 'Cyber Trust' necessary to compete and succeed on the global stage."

Recorded Future has an established Tokyo presence and Japanese-language market presence, and the company has published customer stories featuring Japanese organizations using Recorded Future to strengthen security operations, reduce false positives, and move from reactive to proactive defense. With Kakizawa’s appointment, the company will deepen that foundation with a greater local focus on customer outcomes, partner engagement, product relevance, service delivery, and research tailored to the realities Japanese defenders face.
