ITA Software and Google: Quickly Seeing Networks
By Chris on July 2, 2010
Today it was announced that Google is acquiring ITA Software, a “big deal” from many perspectives. The deal is likely to have a big impact on the travel / travel software industry. Many companies are touched by this – Google and ITA of course, but also companies ranging from Microsoft on the large end to Kayak on the smaller end.
With Recorded Future we can rapidly see the network around a company – in this case ITA, surrounded by companies, people, places, etc. This can be quite helpful if you’re someone who needs to understand the landscape – such as a competitor, a banker, an industry analyst, a journalist, etc.
Going back in time we can see that this merger was already discussed back in April. We can also see that the new players in the network over the last 24 hours include Washington, Richard Brosnick (anti trust lawyer), etc. – indicating potential anti-trust issues.
Network visualizations can be quite helpful in understanding M&A!
